Capital Gainz Supplemental Files
9/25/2015

1) Windows

Capital Gainz appears to work fine on Windows XP,
   Vista, 8, 8.1, and 10.
Exceptions are graphics, help files, and possibly
   installation. See additional notes below.

2) Price Downloads

The library used for price downloads had to change due
to Yahoo changes. To install the update:

Copy download/cginet.dll from this Zip file to the
Capital Gainz program directory. By default, this is:
     c:\capgnz.
Overwrite any existing file of the same name.

3) Help Files

Windows changed their help file format. Windows 7
and 8 have Microsoft fixes for this:
     https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/917607

Or, you can copy the converted help files provided here.
Copy the help/*.* files from this Zip file to the
Capital Gainz help directory. By default, this is:
     c:\capgnz\help

These will no longer work from inside the program, but
can be executed by double-clicking on the *.chm file
   from Windows Explorer.

   These files include:
capgnz.chm : Capital Gainz program help.
cgupg.chm : Capital Gainz upgrade help.
cgcalc.chm : Capital Gainz calculator help.
cgcalend.chm : Capital Gainz calender help.

The tutorial help file could not be converted, but is
available as a PDF, along with the other help files.
   See below for details.

4) PDF Files

The help files were also converted to PDF files.
They are in pdf/*.* in this Zip file.
You can copy these to the Capital Gainz help directory
if desired, or a new pdf directory.

To view them, just double-click on the *.pdf file from
   Windows Explorer.

   These files include:
capgnz.pdf : Capital Gainz program help.
cgupg.pdf : Capital Gainz upgrade help.
cgcalc.pdf : Capital Gainz calculator help.
cgcalend.pdf : Capital Gainz calender help.
     cgtutor.pdf : Capital Gainz tutorial.

5) Advertisements

Some help files refer to advertisements.
This is no longer valid - there are no advertisements.
Some anti-spyware programs may report that
Capital Gainz has adware - it does not.

6) Contact

Some help files refer to old contact information.
   New contact is:
     www.alleycatsw.com/emailform.php
     dlcohen@alleycatsw.com

7) Graphics

Graphics likely does not work in Windows 7 or later.
You can try running in Windows XP compatibility mode,
but that appears to not even work with the latest
Windows releases (it did with earlier releases of
   Windows 7):
In Windows Explorer, open the Capital Gainz
       program directory (by default, c:\capgnz).
Find capgnz.exe (you may have to change Windows
Explorer setting to see file extensions).
Right click on capgnz.exe, and choose Properties
      from the context menu.
Choose Compatibility tab, then select Windows
XP as the compatibility mode to run in.
Click Ok, and graphics should now work.

   There are no other workarounds.

8) Install

The username/usercode patch at install may get blocked
by some overly protective Windows installations.
If so, download the unlocked version at:
     http://www.alleycatsw.com/downloads/cgz60.zip
Unzip the archive to a temporary directory and follow the
directions in the README.FIRST file to manually install
   Capgnz Gainz.

9) Other

Any other important notices will be put on:
